Basketball Game Preview: Parkersburg Big Reds vs. Cabell Midland Knights

The Parkersburg Big Reds will welcome the Cabell Midland Knights at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Tuesday, Parkersburg came up short against Capital and fell 76-68. The Big Reds have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Cabell Midland's strategy against Lincoln County on Saturday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Cabell Midland blew Lincoln County out of the water with a 92-33 final score. The contest marked the Knights' most dominant win of the season.

Parkersburg better keep an eye on Ethan Blackburn. He was instrumental in Cabell Midland's win, dropping a triple-double on 19 points, ten rebounds, and ten assists. That's the most boards Blackburn has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Marshall Summers, who posted 12 points along with five assists and three steals.

Cabell Midland was working as a unit and finished the game with 33 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

The victory got Cabell Midland back to even at 7-7. As for Parkersburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-8.

Parkersburg and Cabell Midland were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in February of 2024, but Parkersburg came up empty-handed after a 66-65 loss. Can Parkersburg avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
