Softball Game Preview: Ballard Bombers vs. Carlisle Wildcats

Ballard hasn't had much luck against Carlisle recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Bombers will head out on the road to take on the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m.

Ballard is headed into Wednesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They fell 8-3 to Indianola. The defeat was just more heartbreak for the Bombers, who fell 6-4 when the teams last met back in May of 2024.

Meanwhile, Carlisle got the win against Boone on Monday by a conclusive 11-5. The victory continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Toreadors: they've now won seven in a row.

Carlisle's win was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-4. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Ballard, their loss dropped their record down to 3-8.

Ballard couldn't quite finish off Carlisle in their previous matchup back in June of 2024 and fell 2-0. Can the Bombers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
