Nixon had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 45-42 victory over the Flour Bluff Hornets on Tuesday. Winning may never get old, but the Mustangs sure are getting used to it with their 16th in a row.

Nixon's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Uli Torres led the charge by dropping a double-double with 12 points and ten boards. Torres is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Dante Escobar, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 13 rebounds.

Nixon's win bumped their record up to 29-9. As for Flour Bluff, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 20-17.

Looking ahead, Nixon will challenge McAllen at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. McAllen will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Nixon surely won't give up without a fight. Flour Bluff does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
