Basketball Recap: Udall Falls Despite Big Games from Jordan Hornecker and James Hornecker

Udall lost against Douglass last Friday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The matchup between the Eagles and the Bulldogs didn't end well, with the Eagles falling 69-55.

James Hornecker and Jordan Hornecker certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. James went 9-for-16 en route to 27 points, while Jordan posted 15 points and seven boards. With that strong performance, James is now averaging an impressive 15.5 points per game.

Douglass' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kemper Cox, who shot 50% from the field to rack up 16 points and four steals. The last time Cox's shooting accuracy was this high was back in December of 2024. Kane Ast was another key player, going 7-for-12 on his way to 19 points and five assists.

Udall's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Douglass, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Udall will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against Norwich at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Norwich's defense has only allowed 28.4 points per game this season, so Udall's offense will have their work cut out for them. Douglass and Belle Plaine will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The game will give the Bulldogs their first taste of in-conference action this season.
