Basketball Recap: Port St. Joe Tiger Sharks vs. North Florida Christian Eagles
The Port St. Joe Tiger Sharks won the last time they faced the North Florida Christian Eagles, and things went their way on Friday too. Port St. Joe walked away with a 62-53 victory over the Eagles.
Port St. Joe's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Bj Cole led the charge by scoring seven points along with seven rebounds and six assists. Another player making a difference was Zay Jenkins, who scored 13 points along with five assists and three steals.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jace Riggan, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. Riggan has been hot recently, having posted 18 or more points the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Nyle Wright, who scored 17 points along with two steals.
Port St. Joe is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-12 record this season. As for North Florida Christian, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-13 record this season.
Port St. Joe and the Gators will face off at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for North Florida Christian, they will square off against the Panthers at TBD on Thursday. Hopefully St. John Paul II focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Friday.
