Softball Game Preview: South Range Raiders vs. Lakeview Bulldogs

The South Range Raiders will head out to face off against the Lakeview Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. South Range's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Lakeview's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Tuesday, South Range got the win against Girard by a conclusive 10-4. Considering the Raiders have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Lakeview entered their tilt with LaBrae on Tuesday with eight consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with nine. They came out on top against the Vikings by a score of 8-3. That's two games straight that the Bulldogs have won by exactly five runs.

Ava Bacon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Mackenzie Stowe, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Kennedy Bartlett was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Lakeview was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .472. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .353 or higher in eight consecutive matches.

Lakeview pushed their record up to 15-3 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for South Range, their record is now 13-7.

South Range couldn't quite get it done against Lakeview in their previous meeting on Friday as they fell 9-4. Can the Raiders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
