Basketball Preview: Valentine vs. Stuart Broncos
Valentine will be playing in front of their home fans against the Stuart Broncos at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Valentine's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight defeat. They took a 50-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of Chadron. Valentine has not had much luck with the Cardinals recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Meanwhile, Stuart had to suffer through a rough 69-29 loss at the hands of the Wolfpack. While losing is never fun, Stuart can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 195th, while the Wolfpack are ranked 44th).
Valentine dropped their record down to 7-12 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.0 points per game. As for Stuart, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season.
Everything went Valentine's way against the Broncos in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 as the made off with a 50-26 win. Does Valentine have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Broncos turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
