Softball Recap: Upperman Find Success

Upperman got themselves on the board against Cumberland County on Thursday, but Cumberland County never followed suit. They came out on top against the Jets by a score of 5-0. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 13-0 on April 1st.

Reece Kimmell was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 18 over seven innings pitched. Those 18 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two doubles.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gracie Butler, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Brynn Wilken was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Upperman kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Upperman's victory bumped their record up to 4-12. As for Cumberland County, their loss was their 18th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-13.

Coming up, Upperman will challenge DeKalb County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cumberland County, they will take on Clarkrange at 12:00 p.m. on Friday.
