Basketball Game Preview: Clovis Cougars vs. Central Grizzlies

The Clovis Cougars will venture away from home to challenge the Central Grizzlies at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Clovis is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.

Clovis is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Clovis West on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Clovis was dealt an 87-54 defeat at the hands of Clovis West. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 406th, while the Golden Eagles are ranked 132nd).

Meanwhile, Central ended up a good deal behind Clovis East on Tuesday and lost 67-50. The Grizzlies haven't had much luck with the Timberwolves recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Central's loss dropped their record down to 15-8. As for Clovis, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-14.

Clovis strolled past Central in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 by a score of 77-61. Does Clovis have another victory up their sleeve, or will Central turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
