Baseball Recap: Tampa Prep Takes a Loss

Tampa Prep's tournament run continued when they took on University on Tuesday. Tampa Prep fell just short of University by a score of 6-5. The Terrapins have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Erik Skiendziel was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off one hit. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Tampa Prep saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grant Brooks, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Those two hits gave Brooks a new career-high. Another was Liam Akins, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Tampa Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8. As for University, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-5-2.

Tampa Prep has already played their next matchup, an 8-4 victory against Deltona on the 20th. As for University, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 13-12 loss against Dr. Phillips on the 20th.
