Preview: Hutchison Sting vs. Memphis East Mustangs
The Hutchison Sting will be home for the holidays to greet the Memphis East Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Hutchison sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 47-44 win over Marion.
Memphis East has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 31 points or more this season. They blew past Ridgeway, posting a 61-30 win at home. The win was familiar territory for Memphis East who now have four in a row.
Memphis East found their leader in underclassman McKenzie Register, who scored 15 points along with six steals. Those six steals set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Casey Teague, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds.
Hutchison's win ended a three-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-2. As for Memphis East, they pushed their record up to 7-1 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.
Hutchison came up short against Memphis East in their previous meeting back in November of 2016, falling 59-49. Thankfully for Hutchison, Kayla Freeman (who scored 24 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
