Basketball Recap: Santaluces Falls Short of Boca Raton in the Playoffs

Santaluces and Boca Raton squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Santaluces had to settle for second. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 53-52 to the Boca Raton Bobcats. The Chiefs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bobcats earlier this season, when they won 58-53.

Santaluces' loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Geovanni Casteel, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten boards. Casteel has become a key player for Santaluces: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least ten rebounds, but 6-11 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Fabensky Pierrelouis, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten boards.

Even though they lost, Santaluces was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Santaluces' defeat dropped their record down to 10-13. As for Boca Raton, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-10.

Santaluces does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Boca Raton, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 77-41 loss against Coral Glades on the 5th.
