Football Recap: Francis Parker Starts off Right with Win over New Designs Watts

Francis Parker took care of business in their home opener on Friday. They secured a 34-30 W over the New Designs Watts Knights.

Leading Francis Parker to victory were Spencer Perry and Chris Nguyen. Perry rushed for 180 yards and three TDs on only 12 carries, while Nguyen rushed for 140 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 7.4 yards per carry. Nguyen didn't just play on offense: he also forced one fumble, made five total tackles, and defended one pass.

When it comes to explaining why New Designs Watts lost, don't look at Jerimiah May. Despite the final result, he rushed for 288 yards and three scores while picking up 12.0 yards per carry, and also threw for 131 yards on only 12 passes. May's longest rush was for an impressive 62 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. De'Andre Garcia also helped with two touchdowns in total.

New Designs Watts' defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Coming up, Francis Parker will welcome Polytechnic at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for New Designs Watts, they are taking a road trip to face off against California School for the Deaf-Riverside at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
