Football Game Preview: Roosevelt Roughriders vs. Mountain View Mountain Lions + How To Watch

The Roosevelt Roughriders are taking a road trip to take on the Mountain View Mountain Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Roosevelt has three straight victories, Mountain View has eight straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Roosevelt's offense will try to repeat the strong performance it gave on Thursday, when they got past Thompson Valley's usually-dominant defense. The Roughriders walked away with a 34-22 win over the Eagles.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Milo Pascual and Ryder Tymkowych. Pascual rushed for 135 yards and a pair of touchdowns while Tymkowych rushed for 137 yards and one score on only 12 carries. Tymkowych also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making three total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defending one pass. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Noah Lucero, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.

Roosevelt was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 259 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 241 rushing yards in three consecutive games.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Roosevelt's defense and their five sacks. Jacobo Rosales refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself.

Meanwhile, Mountain View played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against Severance, falling 41-7. The Mountain Lions were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-0.

Roosevelt's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Mountain View, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.

Roosevelt came up short against Mountain View when the teams last played back in November of 2024, falling 32-22. Thankfully for the Roughriders, Keegan Amans (who rushed for 84 yards and one TD, and also caught one score) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
