Basketball Game Preview: Whitefield Academy Wildcats vs. Pulaski County Maroons

The Whitefield Academy Wildcats will face off against the Pulaski County Maroons at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Last Saturday, Whitefield Academy humbled North Oldham with a 51-13 victory. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 55th, while the Mustangs are ranked 214th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Noel Smith was her usual excellent self, going 11 of 18 en route to 25 points and eight steals. The match was her 11th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Riley Ring, who went 5 of 9 on her way to 12 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

Meanwhile, Pulaski County blew past Fairdale, posting a 65-4 victory. That looming 65-4 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Maroons yet this season.

Whitefield Academy pushed their record up to 10-1 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 33.8 points. As for Pulaski County, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-4.
