Baseball Recap: Robinson Has No Trouble Against Concord

Robinson never got on the board in their matchup on Tuesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Concord on Wednesday. They blew past the Spiders 11-2. That looming 11-2 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Bulldogs yet this season.

Tyler Kluttz was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He has become a key player for Robinson: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-8 otherwise.

In other batting news, Noah Johnson and Jake Barbee did most of the damage at the plate: Johnson scored a run while going 2-for-4, while Barbee scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most runs Barbee has posted since back in March of 2024. Marece Miller was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.

Robinson is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. Concord moved to 4-9 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Coming up, Robinson will challenge South Rowan at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Concord, they will take on East Rowan at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. East Rowan will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something Concord surely won't give up without a fight.
