Volleyball Recap: Amity Regional Starts Season with Loss on the Road

Amity Regional had to start their season on the road on Saturday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bridgeport Central Hilltoppers. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it seven in a row.

While Amity Regional ultimately came up short, they really made Bridgeport Central work, particularly in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 27-25, 25-20, 19-25, 25-19.

Leading Bridgeport Central to victory were Johnathan Rivera and Malik Denton. Rivera had 11 digs and two assists, while Denton had 18 kills and 14 digs.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Amity Regional will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they takes on Shelton at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Bridgeport Central, they will challenge Kolbe-Cathedral at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
