Softball Recap: Mission Valley Sets Scoring Season-High Against Marais Des Cygnes Valley

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mission Valley). They blew past the Marais des Cygnes Valley Trojans 19-5 on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won six games by nine runs or more so far this season.

Mission Valley got a great performance from Keely Chesmore as she struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits.

At the plate, Kailynn Jacobson was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddie Kraus, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4.

Mission Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in four consecutive matches.

Mission Valley pushed their record up to 6-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Marais des Cygnes Valley, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Looking ahead, Mission Valley will face off against Burlington at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Marais des Cygnes Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
