Volleyball Recap: Riverside Takes a Loss

Riverside lost against Burges back in September of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Rangers came up short against the Mustangs, falling 3-0. The Rangers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-10, 25-15.

Sophia Samaniego paced Riverside's offense, picking up seven kills. Samaniego got some help from Daisy Diaz and her ten assists. Diaz also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Alessandra Gonzalez, racking up two apiece.

Riverside's loss dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Burges, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.

Riverside and Burges will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Rangers are set to face off against their familiar foe San Elizario at 6:40 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Burges will take on rival Jefferson at 6:40 p.m. on Tuesday.
