Softball Game Preview: Pine City Dragons vs. East Central Eagles

Pine City is 8-2 against East Central since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Dragons will venture away from home to take on the Eagles at 4:30 p.m. Pine City has given up an average of 13.2 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Pine City couldn't beat Aitkin on Tuesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the second inning. The Dragons came up short against the Gobblers, falling 18-5.

Meanwhile, East Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They lost 19-1 to Mille Lacs co-op [Isle/Onamia].

East Central saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Harmony Bradshaw, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double.

Pine City's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-10. Those home defeats can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for East Central, their loss dropped their record down to 2-12.

Pine City was able to grind out a solid win over East Central in their previous meeting on Friday, winning 9-4. Will the Dragons repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
