Recap: Wharton Tigers vs. Fort Bend Dulles Vikings

The Wharton Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Fort Bend Dulles, falling 74-47. While losing is never fun, Wharton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1060th, while Fort Bend Dulles is ranked 241st).

Wharton lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Angell Gaona, Jr., who scored seven points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ja'Carious Wiley, who scored two points along with six rebounds.

Wharton's defeat dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Fort Bend Dulles, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-7.

Wharton will finish 2023 at home by hosting Dekaney at 9:00 a.m. on Friday. Fort Bend Dulles' road trip will continue as they head out to face Port Arthur Memorial at 10:00 a.m. on December 29th. Port Arthur Memorial has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 176 points over their last three matchups.
