Softball Game Preview: Marquette Crusaders vs. Seneca Fighting Irish

Marquette has won four straight games at home, while Seneca has won four straight on the road dating back to last season, but those streaks won't matter much on Thursday. The Crusaders will welcome the Fighting Irish at 4:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Marquette barely beat Pontiac the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Crusaders were the clear victors by a 16-8 margin over the Indians on Wednesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Crusaders considering their one-run performance the match before.

Makayla Backos was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and one triple. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Kealey Rick was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Seneca got the win against Marquette on Tuesday by a conclusive 11-1. The Fighting Irish haven't had any issues with the Crusaders recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Seneca's victory bumped their record up to 24-0. As for Marquette, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 19-5.
