Basketball Game Preview: Tintic Miners vs. Valley Buffalos

The Tintic Miners will challenge the Valley Buffalos at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Tintic has given up an average of 50.4 points per game this season, so hopefully the team got some defensive drills in this week.

Tintic is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Milford 65-62.

Meanwhile, Valley hadn't done well against Piute recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Valley secured a 60-55 W over Piute. The game was the first time the Buffalos have beaten the Thunderbirds on their court since February 27, 2020.

Tintic has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.0 points over those games. Valley's win bumped their record up to 16-7.

Tintic ended up a good deal behind Valley when the teams last played back in March of 2024, losing 72-53. Can Tintic avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
