Basketball Recap: Kofa's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

Kofa's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They snuck past the Santa Rita Eagles with a 47-42 win. The victory was some much needed relief for the Kings as it spelled an end to their eight-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Mark Mercado had an outrageously good game as he dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Luis Negrete, who posted 11 points and six rebounds.

Kofa was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in four consecutive games.

Kofa's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-7. As for Santa Rita, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.

Kofa won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against The Gregory School at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. As for Santa Rita, they will also get right back to it: they'll square off against Amphitheater at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
