Baseball Recap: El Diamante's Luck Changes for the Better on Wednesday

El Diamante came into Wednesday's matchup having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They skirted past the Garfield Bulldogs 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Miners have posted since March 28th.

Colin Horton made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because El Diamante is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-10-1 otherwise. Horton was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Noah Pena, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Troy Loftin, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

El Diamante's victory bumped their record up to 8-11-1. As for Garfield, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-9 record this season.

El Diamante will venture away from home to challenge Golden West at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Garfield, they will host Alhambra at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
