Baseball Recap: Aquinas Academy Takes a Loss

Aquinas Academy fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Rochester on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 3-2 to the Rams, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Crusaders just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Jonah Burchill put in work no matter where he played. He tossed 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one double.

Burchill wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ian Patterson, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Aquinas Academy's loss dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Rochester, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-7.

Aquinas Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Rochester, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Carlynton at 4:00 p.m.
