Volleyball Recap: McKinney Boyd Comes Up Short

McKinney Boyd managed to slip by Plano the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Broncos lost 3-0 to the Wildcats on Tuesday. The Broncos were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

While McKinney Boyd was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-12, 25-22.

Plano found their leader in freshman Maren McCardel, who had three digs and three aces. McCardel also set a new season-high mark in assists with 19.

McKinney Boyd dropped their record down to 9-11 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Plano, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-6 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. McKinney Boyd is set to take on their familiar foe McKinney at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Plano will square off against rival Plano East at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
