Baseball Recap: Simon Kenton Takes a Loss

If Simon Kenton was riding high fresh off their 12-0 takedown of Williamstown on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Pioneers came up short against the Boyd County Lions on Friday, falling 16-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Pioneers have suffered since March 26th.

Simon Kenton saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Piper, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

Simon Kenton's loss dropped their record down to 15-9-3. As for Boyd County, they are on a roll lately: they've won 19 of their last 20 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-5 record this season.

Coincidentally, Simon Kenton and Boyd County will both be playing Paul Laurence Dunbar the next time they take the field. The Lions will head out to face the Bulldogs at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Pioneers will play them later in the day, at 6:30 p.m.
