Basketball Recap: Jordan Furney's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Delta over Oak Hill

It was a Battle of the Birds when Delta took on Oak Hill on Friday. The Delta Eagles fell 58-50 to the Oak Hill Golden Eagles. The Eagles have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second defeat in a row.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jordan Furney, who posted 16 points. Cooper Bratton was another key player, putting up 12 points and three steals.

Oak Hill found their leader in sophomore Jace Tonagel, who shot 46% from the field en route to 20 points in addition to seven assists and three steals. The matchup was Tonagel's fourth in a row with at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Landon Cruzan, who went 5-for-8 to rack up 12 points.

Delta's loss dropped their record down to 14-7. As for Oak Hill, their victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-6.

Delta and Oak Hill should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings. Delta (ranked 65th) will meet Yorktown (ranked 220th) at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, Oak Hill will face off against Lewis Cass at 8:00 p.m. on March 7th up 248 places (121 vs. 369).
