Baseball Game Preview: Wicksburg Panthers vs. Slocomb Red Tops

For the second straight game, Wicksburg will face off against Slocomb. The Panthers are taking a road trip to challenge the Red Tops at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Wicksburg has six straight victories, Slocomb has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Wicksburg had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Slocomb on Thursday. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Red Tops. Considering the Panthers have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

For Slocomb's part, they saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cade Birge, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Wicksburg's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-7. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Slocomb, their loss dropped their record down to 12-9.
