League recap: Maple Shade wins, gets boost in standings

Maple Shade was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to fourth in West Jersey - Freedom. The Wildcats defeated Riverside 37-6 earlier in the week.

Palmyra made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 10,960 from 11,884. The advance stemmed from a 21-7 victory over the Panthers last week.

Maple Shade's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Charlie Davis threw for 156 and 3 touchdowns and Kevin Williams had 100 yards receiving. On the ground John Sivills contributed 191 yards. Cedric Baker helped Maple Shade's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 56 yards.

He went 7-12 with 0 interception.

Davis put up the best numbers through the air as Tony Nicolino's team bested the Rams. Davis' favorite target this week was Williams, who caught 4 passes for 100 yards.

The Wildcats' Davis and Williams led the league in both passing and receiving yards. Davis has thrown for 301 yards this season, while Williams, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 8 catches for 145 yards. Palmyra's John Harman leads the league in rushing yards with 355.

Maple Shade led the league in scoring this week by notching 37 points on Riverside. Davis ran for 114 yards during the win.
