Softball Game Preview: West Jessamine Colts vs. Henry Clay Blue Devils

The West Jessamine Colts will challenge the Henry Clay Blue Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The last four games West Jessamine has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

West Jessamine took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against Garrard County, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. West Jessamine skirted past Garrard County 7-5. Surprisingly, this marked the fifth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

Emerson Collins was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was LuLu Blakeman, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Henry Clay fell victim to Frederick Douglass and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 9-0 to the Broncos. The loss continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their meetings with the Broncos: they've now lost four in a row.

Henry Clay saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Elise Pearson, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

West Jessamine now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Henry Clay, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Everything went West Jessamine's way against Henry Clay in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as West Jessamine made off with a 9-0 win. Will West Jessamine repeat their success, or does Henry Clay has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
