Basketball Recap: Deshawn Townsend Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Pleasant Valley

With a playoff win on the line, Enterprise rose to the challenge on Wednesday. They walked away with a 60-52 victory over the Pleasant Valley Vikings. This was a revenge game for the Hornets: when they faced off against the Vikings back in February, they had to take a 63-42 loss.

Enterprise's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Deshawn Townsend, who shot 67% from the field en route to 23 points and six assists. Those 23 points gave Townsend a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Izeah Mikell, who went 5-for-9 to rack up 10 points along with six boards and three steals.

Townsend wasn't the only one working in the assist department: Enterprise was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. Enterprise is 12-5 when they've passed the ball that well.

The win made it two in a row for Enterprise and bumps their season record up to 15-12. As for Pleasant Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-11.

Enterprise didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 61-55 loss against Foothill on the 1st. As for Pleasant Valley, they will venture away from home to square off against King's Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. King's Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 20 games -- so hopefully Pleasant Valley likes a good challenge.
