Basketball Recap: Sandy Valley Comes Up Short

Sandy Valley lost against Garaway back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Sandy Valley Cardinals fell 53-41 to the Garaway Pirates. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 384th, while the Pirates are ranked 139th).

Sandy Valley dropped their record down to 4-5 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Garaway, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-2.

Sandy Valley and Carrollton will face off at 6:45 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Carrollton knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matches -- so hopefully Sandy Valley likes a good challenge. As for Garaway, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against John Glenn at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. John Glenn is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 68.1 points per game this season.
