Basketball Recap: Tucumcari Takes a Loss

Tucumcari was the 66-64 winner over Raton when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Tucumcari Rattlers fell just short of the Raton Tigers by a score of 72-69 on Saturday.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Raton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tyler Petrini, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds. That's the most boards Petrini has posted since back in December of 2024. Chase Walton was another key player, as he made all 7 shots he took racking up 16 points and eight rebounds.

Tucumcari has traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season. As for Raton, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tucumcari will head out to face off against Clayton at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Raton, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Raton Tigers take on the Santa Rosa Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
