Softball Recap: Snake River Panthers vs. Marsh Valley Eagles
There's no place like home for Snake River, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Marsh Valley Eagles on Tuesday and snuck past 3-2. This was payback for Snake River, who suffered a 7-2 loss the last time these two teams met.
Mailee Nash spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits.
At the plate, Hailee Nash was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now stolen at least one in the last three games she's played.
On Marsh Valley's side, Lydia Howell was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). Howell was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Even though they lost, Marsh Valley didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and finished the game with seven strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Snake River only tossed three.
Snake River pushed their record up to 11-7 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Marsh Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-8.
