After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Grafton, Poquoson was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Jamestown Eagles. Considering the Islanders have won five games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Poquoson got a great performance from Natalie Klochak as she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.
On the hitting side, Brooklyn Mason was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Laney, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI and one triple.
Poquoson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jamestown only posted an OBP of .300.
Poquoson's victory bumped their record up to 11-2. As for Jamestown, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Poquoson will take on York at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Islanders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Falcons have averaged an impressive 8.7 runs per game this season. As for Jamestown, they will square off against New Kent at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Trojans will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight.
