Softball Recap: Mechanicsville Finds Home Field Redemption Against Varina

There's no place like home for Mechanicsville, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They never let the Varina Blue Devils get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Monday. That's more bragging rights for the Mustangs, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Mechanicsville let Ella Hagen and Hailey McLaughlin run wild. Hagen got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run, while McLaughlin got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases McLaughlin has posted since back in March of 2024. Riley Christian also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Mechanicsville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Mechanicsville's record now sits at 3-5. As for Varina, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mechanicsville will take on Hanover at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Varina, they will face off against Manchester at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lancers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Blue Devils' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
