Basketball Recap: James Irwin Comes Up Short

James Irwin lost against Buena Vista back in February of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The James Irwin Jaguars lost 62-36 to the Buena Vista Demons. The Jaguars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Daisy Lubbers had a dynamite game for Buena Vista, going 7-for-13 on her way to 15 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Lubbers also posted four blocks, which is notable because Buena Vista is 2-1 when she posts at least three blocks, but 5-8 otherwise. Bridget Dawson was another key player, going 6-for-10 to rack up 12 points and six boards.

James Irwin's loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Buena Vista, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-9 record this season.

Looking ahead, James Irwin will face off against Banning Lewis Academy at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. As for Buena Vista, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 53-27 win against Rye on the 14th.
