Softball Preview: Trumann Wildcats vs. Westside Warriors

Trumann has been on the road for two straight, but on Thursday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Westside Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Westside took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Trumann, who comes in off a win.

Last Thursday, Trumann made easy work of Forrest City and carried off an 18-1 win. 18 seems to be a good number for Trumann as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Faith Muntz made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). Muntz has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in three consecutive pitching appearances. Muntz was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Macey Powell was incredible, scoring five runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-4. Ellisabeth Holladay was another key contributor, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Meanwhile, after a string of seven wins, Westside's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They wound up on the wrong side of a rough 8-2 walloping at the hands of Rivercrest. Westside has not had much luck with Rivercrest recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Mckyna Craig spent all seven innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and three unearned) runs on five hits.

Trumann's win bumped their record up to 5-8. As for Westside, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-3.
