Baseball Game Preview: Del Mar Dons vs. Overfelt Overfelt Royals

For the second straight game, Del Mar will face off against Overfelt. The Dons will be playing at home against the Overfelt Royals at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Del Mar is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.

Del Mar fell victim to Overfelt and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Overfelt Royals. The shutout was out of character for the Dons seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in February.

For Overfelt's part, the result came thanks to Hugo Jeronimo's shutout, as he gave up just four hits and racked up ten Ks. Jeronimo has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Brian Becerra Dado was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Overfelt: the team is 6-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-10 otherwise.

The win (which was Overfelt's third in a row) raised their record to 11-11. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Del Mar, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-11 record this season.
