Preview: Centennial vs. Long Reach
On Friday Long Reach take on Centennial at 7:00 PM. Long Reach have the odds in their favor, so they'll need to guard against complacency.
If Long Reach were riding high off their 34-0 takedown of Hammond two weeks ago, that ride came to an abrupt end. Long Reach took a 12-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of River Hill. Junior Eric Benesch and senior Luis Gooden jr were two go-getters for Long Reach despite the loss. The former passed for 167 yards and 2 touchdowns, while the latter caught passes for 102 yards and 1 touchdown. In fact, with 10 tackles Gooden jr was a force on both sides of the ball.
Meanwhile, Centennial took a serious blow against Wilde Lake last Friday, falling 0-45. Centennial were in a tough position by the half, with the score sitting at 0-39.
With both teams hitting sour notes in their previous games, they will no doubt be looking to produce a better outcome in this one. We'll see which team satisfies their hunger and which team leaves with an empty stomach.
