Basketball Recap: Somerset Academy's Loss Ends Nine-Game Winning Streak at Home

Somerset Academy entered their contest against True North Classical Academy on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Somerset Academy Panthers took a 63-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the True North Classical Academy Titans. The Panthers' loss continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Xavier Anderson, who posted eight points in addition to nine assists and four steals. Those nine assists gave Anderson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jahlon Blain, who put up 14 points and five rebounds.

True North Classical Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Boosie Swan out in front who went 6 of 15 on his way to 16 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. Swan has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Quincy Douby Jr, who went 6 of 12 on his way to 16 points and five boards.

Somerset Academy's defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 10-6. As for True North Classical Academy, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-9.

Somerset Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 66-58 loss against Belen Jesuit on the 11th. As for True North Classical Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, an 89-57 victory against Cathedral Prep on the 11th.
