Basketball Recap: James Kenan Starts Season with Defeat at Home

James Kenan unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell to the Southern Wayne Saints 47-43. The matchup was a 19-19 toss-up at halftime, but the Tigers couldn't quite close it out.

Aleyah Wilson was James Kenan's leading scorer, having posted ten points. Alayjay Wright held things down on the boards with six rebounds.

It was another big night for Nevaeh Hines-Bass, who went 11 for 14 on her way to 32 points and six steals for Southern Wayne. Hines-Bass' afternoon made it 14 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Azariah Jordan was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Southern Wayne moved to 1-3 with that win, which also ended their six-game losing streak.

James Kenan didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 40-28 victory against Midway on the 11th. As for Southern Wayne, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 45-35 win against Eastern Wayne on the 13th.
