Baseball Recap: Independence/Gilmanton Has No Trouble Against Alma Center Lincoln

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Independence/Gilmanton). They walked away with a 7-3 win over the Alma Center Lincoln Hornets on Tuesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

The team relied heavily on Eric Lopez, who went 2-for-4 with five stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Preston Solberg was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

Independence/Gilmanton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Independence/Gilmanton now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Alma Center Lincoln, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Independence/Gilmanton will welcome Elmwood/Plum City at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Alma Center Lincoln, they will host Blair-Taylor at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Hornets' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
