Chavez has gone 9-1 against Verdugo Hills recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Chavez Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Verdugo Hills Dons at 4:00 p.m. Chavez is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.5 goals per game this season.

If Verdugo Hills heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Chavez took over last week. Chavez walked away with a 3-1 win over Monroe on Monday. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 388th, while the Vikings are ranked 975th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Eduardo Sicaja and Ivan Burgara scored all three of Chavez's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 32 goals.

Meanwhile, Verdugo Hills was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Grant. That's two games in a row now that the Dons have lost by just one goal.

Chavez is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 19 goals over those six matches. As for Verdugo Hills, their loss dropped their record down to 2-11-2.

Chavez beat Verdugo Hills 2-0 in their previous meeting back in January. Will Chavez repeat their success, or does Verdugo Hills have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
