Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask South Adams). They put the hurt on the Whitko Wildcats with a sharp 16-4 victory on Saturday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Starfires with their most commanding win of the season.

Jax Wanner made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off four hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.

In other batting news, Kaleb Minger was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brendon Sprunger, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

South Adams' win bumped their record up to 4-16. As for Whitko, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-10 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: South Adams beat Whitko by a score of 9-8 later that day.
