Baseball Recap: Bonita Springs Comes Up Short

The Bonita Springs Bullsharks didn't have quite enough to beat the Charlotte Fightin' Tarpons on Tuesday and fell 4-3.

Travis Holappa put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over 5.2 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Holappa was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

Holappa wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Gianni Phillips, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Jacob Estrada also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Bonita Springs' loss dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Charlotte, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.

Bonita Springs will be playing at home against Estero at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games the Wildcats have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Charlotte, they will head out on the road to face off against Fort Myers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Fightin' Tarpons 3.3, the Green Wave 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
