Softball Recap: Trinity Wolves vs. Enterprise Hornets

Trinity lost a close one when they played last Monday but unfortunately for them the defeat they were handed on Thursday was a bit more commanding. They lost 9-3 to the Enterprise Hornets. Trinity has not had much luck with Enterprise recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Jaden Brown was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Riley Short, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

On Enterprise's side, Jaylee Ponte made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. Ponte has been consistent recently: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in four consecutive pitching appearances. Ponte was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Maya Hubbs was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Vanessa Gonzalez was another key contributor, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Trinity's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-19. As for Enterprise, their victory bumped their record up to 5-11.

Trinity will head out on the road to take on Modoc at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Modoc is coming into the contest with nine straight wins at home, so Trinity will have to stop a squad with plenty of momentum. Enterprise does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
