Desert Vista faced O'Connor in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Thunder had just enough and edged out the Eagles 6-5. The victory was familiar territory for the Thunder, who have now won eight contests in a row.

Mckenzie Leitgen was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one home run.

Desert Vista's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-5. As for O'Connor, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 17-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Desert Vista will head out to square off against Basha at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Thunder 2.9, the Bears 4) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for O'Connor, they will head out on the road to challenge Mountain Ridge at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles are facing the Mountain Lions at the right time seeing as the Mountain Lions are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
